Welcome to Ballard Farm Holidays
Ballard farm, facing south west into a beautiful Wicklow valley, has been held by Michael and Denise Sloan for over fifty years. In the early days the farm bred and managed a jersey dairy herd and later changed to sheep and tillage. The farm is situated a full kilometer from the road, with a glorious avenue edged by spring bulbs and mature trees.
The farmyard has a traditional courtyard design with the rear of the family house facing stables opposite, flanked by a stone barn (originally for livestock) to one side and a large granary (grain barn) opposite. Ballard continues to run as a working sheep farm with different activities each season, March being the busiest with lambing in full swing.
The substantial grounds, in and around Ballard Farm, are a gardeners delight. Full credit must be given to Denise Sloan, whose creative and natural green touch is evident by the spectacular array of blooms and sweetly scented flowering throughout all seasons, including a productive vegetable garden, orchard and wild flower paddock. The large shared garden is ideal for relaxation, play and shade with swings for ourdoor play and plenty of space to kick a football around.
Ballard farm has been host to holiday makers for over twenty years. Since the conversion to self-accommodation of two of the main farm buildings, Swallow Barn and The Granary, we now have many returning visitors and always enjoys meeting new guests. Both houses are open all year round. Pets are welcome with prior arrangement |
